About The Role

The Mechanical / Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, coordination, implementation, and commissioning of building mechanical and/or electrical systems. The role requires strong technical expertise in HVAC, power distribution, building automation, and system integration, as well as solid experience in construction supervision and project coordination.

The position covers both office-based engineering design and site-based project execution.

Technical Responsibilities

Engineering Design & Analysis

  • Review and evaluate client-issued drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Perform engineering calculations for mechanical and/or electrical systems including:
  • HVAC load calculations
  • Equipment sizing and selection
  • Electrical load schedules and demand calculations
  • Power distribution and protection coordination
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs using CAD and relevant design software.
  • Develop system layout drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct technical evaluation of supplier proposals and equipment submittals.

Building Systems & Integration

  • Design, coordinate, and oversee installation of:
  • HVAC systems (chillers, VRF, AHU, FCU, ventilation systems)
  • Electrical power distribution systems
  • Lighting and control systems
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • IT and structured cabling systems (as applicable)
  • Ensure proper integration between mechanical, electrical, and building automation systems.
  • Identify system interface issues and provide technical resolutions.
  • Provide technical guidance on energy efficiency and system optimization.

Construction Management & Site Supervision

  • Conduct site due diligence and utility verification.
  • Review shop drawings and as-built drawings for compliance with design intent.
  • Prepare material take-offs and verify material specifications.
  • Supervise subcontractor activities and ensure adherence to approved drawings and quality standards.
  • Prepare and monitor:
  • 3-week lookahead schedules
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
  • Coordinate with project managers, consultants, contractors, and other trades.
  • Evaluate subcontractor billing based on Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and contract scope.
  • Prepare variation orders, change order estimates, and additional work proposals.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover

  • Monitor and witness system testing and commissioning activities.
  • Verify functional performance of installed systems.
  • Ensure proper documentation, testing records, and photographic documentation.
  • Prepare turnover documentation and assist in final handover to client.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure implementation of Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures.
  • Enforce Occupational Safety and Health standards at site.
  • Conduct toolbox meetings prior to commencement of work activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local government and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • 58 years of relevant experience in building services engineering and construction.
  • Experience in commercial, fit-out, and high-rise building projects preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • HVAC systems design and installation
  • Electrical power distribution systems
  • BMS and building automation systems
  • Construction documentation and BOQ evaluation
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and other engineering software tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and multidisciplinary coordination
