Mandatory Skills:
COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS (non-negotiable) - The client expects candidates to have strong proficiency in CICS as well as the other listed technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications and systems using COBOL, Assembler, JCL, CICS, DB2, and other programming languages and tools
- Design and implement solutions that meet business requirements and technical specifications
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior developers
- Collaborate with other teams, including business analysts, quality assurance, and project management, to ensure successful project delivery
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities
- Identify and resolve technical issues and bugs in a timely manner
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in mainframe development
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Information Technology, or a related field
- 3-17 years of experience in mainframe development
- strong knowledge of COBOL, Assembler, JCL, CICS, DB2, and other mainframe programming languages and tools
- Experience working with mainframe systems such as z/05, IMS, and VSAM
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus
- Experience in the banking industry is preferred
