Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mainframe Developer to design, develop, maintain, and optimize our core legacy systems. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and high performance of critical enterprise applications. You will work on software development lifecycles (SDLC) ranging from system analysis and coding to testing, debugging, and deployment. The ideal candidate blends deep technical mainframe expertise with a forward-thinking mindset to support system integration and modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development: Design, code, test, and debug high-performance mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, and JCL.
Database Management: Create, optimize, and maintain complex relational databases and file structures using DB2 and IMS DB/DC.
System Maintenance: Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production batch processing and online transaction failures to ensure minimal business disruption.
Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize existing programs to reduce CPU utilization, improve execution time, and lower operational overhead.
Integration & Modernization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe backend systems with modern web, cloud, or API-based front-end applications.
Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date technical documentation, system architectures, and program specifications.
Compliance & Security: Ensure all developed code complies with strict enterprise security policies, governance frameworks, and data privacy regulations.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Core Languages: Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, and CICS.
Databases & Files: Hands-on experience with DB2 (SQL) and VSAM file structures.
Methodologies: Practical understanding of Agile or Waterfall software development life cycles (SDLC).
1-2 years mainframe development experience
