Job Description

Role Overview:

The role is responsible for providing legal advice to the organization, particularly to Human Resources, Cases review Committee, and other Business Units. The incumbent also provides support to labor and cases management and handling of such labor complaints for mediation or criminal cases for case build-up as filed or to be files in the local courts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide sound legal advice and opinions to Human Resources, the Case Review Committee, and other business units, as required.
  • Represent the bank in mediation proceedings before quasi-judicial bodies involving employee-related cases and labor inspection matters for the bank, its subsidiaries, and affiliates.
  • Support the development of legal strategies for employee cases and recovery efforts, ensuring all actions comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Draft, review, and finalize legal documents such as affidavits, demand letters, pleadings, and related legal instruments.
  • Coordinate and liaise with external law firms and the Legal Services Group regarding the endorsement, prosecution, or defense of cases to safeguard the bank's interests.
  • Monitor and periodically review the status and progress of cases handled by external counsel to support the timely recovery of losses and effective case resolution.
  • Review statements of account and billing submitted by external legal counsel prior to processing for payment.
  • Review, draft, and advise on employment-related contracts, policies, and documentation.
  • Prepare and submit internal legal reports and documentation as required by business units to support regulatory and compliance requirements.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor degree
  • Preferably with at least five (5) years of litigation or court trial experience, including handling criminal, civil, and labor cases
  • Willing to work onsite in Ortigas.
