Lead Software Engineer

Role Summary:

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to guide and grow our software engineering team while contributing directly to the development of our products. You will lead capable engineers, help bridge the gap between product designs and technical implementation, and ensure that our solutions are robust, scalable, and user-friendly.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and guide a small software engineering team (25 staff), promoting best practices, clean coding, and effective teamwork (25% of time).

Manage software projects, including code review meetings, stand-ups, and project timelines (20% of time).

Actively contribute to development by writing code and delivering key features across our stack (50% of time).

Perform management and HR tasks associated with leading a small team (5% of time). Help evolve the team's technical capability while meeting short-term development goals.

Collaborate across global teams and adapt quickly to shifting priorities in a startup environment.

Contribute to the overall growth, impact, and culture of the company.

Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum 10 years of proven software development experience, with at least 2 years managing a development team.

Demonstrated experience in team leadership within a startup or dynamic environment (EdTech experience is ideal).

Fluent professional English with experience collaborating across global teams and time zones.

Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript (mandatory), ideally with React, Hono, and/or Cloudflare's developer platform.

Experience building and integrating APIs.

Capability to participate in and potentially lead full software development life cycles.

Familiarity with agile frameworks and ability to apply best practices pragmatically. Experience in DevOps and automation (GitHub Actions or similar).

Technical Stack:

Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud (primarily Cloudflare)

Databases: DuckDB (Python containers), PostgreSQL, BigQuery

Backend: Hono (TypeScript)

Frontend: React (TypeScript) with PrimeReact, Tailwind, D3/VisX Familiarity

(Advantageous but Not Required):

Experience in EdTech or data-driven product environments.

Exposure to data platforms such as PostgreSQL, BigQuery, or DuckDB.

Experience working in high-growth startup environments.
