We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Quality Control Specialist-Precast & Civil to be based in Diego Garcia, to oversee quality assurance for precast concrete works (manholes, walls, etc.), civil works, and structural components (sub-structure and superstructure). The role involves inspecting, testing, and evaluating materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will proactively identify and resolve quality issues, maintain strict adherence to codes, and drive best practices across all phases of construction.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Overseeing all aspects of quality control within a precast concrete manufacturing facility.
- Authority to enforce Quality Control policy over production requirements.
- Obligate production of consistently high-quality products (precast concrete).
- Determine and execute appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices in manufacturing concrete products.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the plant's quality control procedures, standards, and Quality Manual.
- Assure the quality of infrastructure projects, including road, electrical manholes, communication manholes, and drainage works, through comprehensive inspections, testing, and adherence to quality control standards.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction activities, identify quality issues, and provide guidance to project teams for corrective action.
- Establishing a Quality Control Plan (QCP), obtaining approval from the distinguished stakeholders, and ensuring strict adherence to it. Collaborate with Construction Superintendents assigned Engineers and subcontractors to implement quality assurance measures and ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Apply Civil Engineering principles and expertise to assess the design, construction, and maintenance of roads and drainage systems.
- Provide technical input and recommendations for the planning, design, and execution of infrastructure projects, with a focus on optimizing functionality, durability, and sustainability.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure alignment with quality standards and project objectives.
- Prepare detailed assessment reports for infrastructure projects, documenting findings, recommendations, and compliance with quality standards.
- Communicate assessment results to project stakeholders, including management, clients, and regulatory authorities, in a clear and concise manner.
- Track and record quality control data, including test results, inspection reports, and corrective actions, to facilitate project monitoring and evaluation.
- Track and record project progress and provide necessary reports
- Provide training and mentorship to project personnel on quality control procedures, techniques, and best practices.
- Foster a culture of quality consciousness and continuous improvement within the project team by promoting awareness and understanding of quality standards and requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Registered Civil Engineer
- ACI Field Testing Technician-Grade 1
- NPCA Production and Quality School (PQS Level 1 minimum)
- Minimum 6 + years as a Lead Quality Control Specialist for Precast Civil (Project Management experience is desirable).
- Thorough understanding of standard engineering theories
- Must be familiar with ACI, BS and CE (European)standards and codes
- US codes knowledge is desirable
