Synopsis of Role

The Korean Language Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality Korean language instruction aligned with TOPIK I and TOPIK II proficiency standards. The role focuses on developing learners communicative competence through a Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach while preparing students for the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) examination.

The teacher designs engaging, learner-centered lessons, develops instructional materials, and facilitates both synchronous and asynchronous learning using the institution's Learning Management System (LMS). The position requires strong pedagogical expertise, cultural knowledge, and the ability to support learners in achieving academic, professional, and migration-related language goals.

Essential Functions

Deliver engaging Korean language classes covering listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills aligned with TOPIK I and II requirements.

Apply Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) methodologies to promote practical language use and real-life interaction.

Plan structured lessons based on curriculum outcomes, proficiency descriptors, and assessment targets.

Develop instructional materials, assessments, and supplementary resources tailored to learner needs.

Prepare students for TOPIK examination formats, strategies, and performance expectations.

Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to manage course content, assignments, assessments, and learner progress.

Provide timely feedback, coaching, and remediation to support learner development.

Monitor and document student performance and attendance in accordance with program standards.

Participate in curriculum review, program development, and academic meetings.

Maintain an engaging, inclusive, and culturally informed classroom environment.

Stay updated on developments in Korean language education, assessment standards, and pedagogy.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Korean Language Education, Korean Studies, Linguistics, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

Recognized certification for teaching Korean as a foreign language (e.g., Korean Language Teacher Qualification or equivalent).

Demonstrated proficiency in Korean (TOPIK Level 5 or 6, or native-level fluency).

Proven experience teaching Korean as a Second/Foreign Language, particularly in TOPIK preparation.

Experience applying Communicative Language Teaching or learner-centered methodologies.

Familiarity with curriculum design, assessment development, and instructional material creation.

Experience using Learning Management Systems and digital teaching platforms.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Classroom-based and/or online teaching environment.

Requires extended periods of teaching, lesson preparation, and computer-based work.

May involve evening or weekend classes depending on program schedules.

Requires the ability to facilitate interactive learning activities and manage classroom dynamics.
