The Role
We're seeking a Junior Staff Accountant. This role is designed for detail-oriented accounting professionals who have experience in bookkeeping and are eager to support small business clients in the United States through accurate financial recordkeeping and reconciliation processes.
You'll play a key role in maintaining accounting records, performing recurring bookkeeping activities, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring the accuracy of financial information while delivering exceptional service to clients.
Location: Must be in Colombia – Remote.
Environment: Colombian and International Teams.
Language: Advanced English (B2+ - C1).
Timezone: Monday to Friday – 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM MST.
Contract: Non-fixed Term Colombian Contract.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in bookkeeping is required.
- Skills:
- Exposure to bookkeeping processes and accounting procedures.
- Experience with account reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and technical aptitude.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining high-quality service standards.
- Knowledge of accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), and payroll reconciliations.
- Characteristics:
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Aptitude for data management, analytics, and report preparation.
- Ability to work independently in an autonomous environment.
- Self-directed with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine accounting procedures such as bank, credit card, and payroll account reconciliations, accounts receivable (A/R), accounts payable (A/P), as well as other accounting-related functions as requested by clients
- Communicate open items or anomalies to Staff Accountants, and follow up to ensure items are fully resolved
- Examine bank transactions and flag unknown transactions to the accountant or accounting lead
- Prepare journal entries and ensure proper documentation of reconciliation items in work papers
- Contribute to other department and team projects as needed
- Perform other duties as required.
