Job Description

The Junior QA Engineer is an early-career quality professional who supports the QA team with test execution, bug reporting, documentation, and environment verification. This role is the entry point into the company's career path, with heavy emphasis on learning testing fundamentals, building systematic testing habits, and gradually taking on more complex testing responsibilities. The individual will receive mentorship from the QA Manager and Senior QA Engineer, and is expected to develop skills across manual testing, API testing, and eventually test automation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 Test Execution

  • Execute assigned test cases from ADO Test Plans follow documented steps, record pass/fail results.
  • Perform exploratory testing on new features under guidance from senior QA team members.
  • Execute smoke tests on staging and UAT environments before and after deployments.
  • Re-test resolved bugs and verify fixes across affected platforms (web, mobile, API).
  • Support regression testing cycles by executing assigned portions of the regression suite.

2.2 Bug Reporting & Documentation

  • Report bugs in ADO with clear titles, reproduction steps, expected vs. actual behavior, screenshots, and environment details.
  • Maintain and update test case documentation as features evolve.
  • Document test environment configurations and known issues.
  • Help maintain the test data repository update test accounts, seed data, and configuration files.
  • Write and update QA process documentation and runbooks under guidance.

2.3 Environment Verification

  • Verify test environment health before each test cycle, confirm services are running, data is seeded, and configurations are correct.
  • Flag environment issues to the QA Manager and DevOps team immediately.
  • Validate deployment success by running post-deployment smoke tests.
  • Monitor environment stability and report any anomalies (slow responses, error logs, broken builds).

2.4 Learning & Growth

  • Learn the company's application architecture React frontend, NestJS APIs, Python services, database structure.
  • Shadow senior QA engineers on complex test scenarios and automation writing.
  • Attend knowledge-sharing sessions and actively build testing skills (API testing, mobile testing, automation basics).
  • Use AI-assisted tools to improve test case writing, bug description quality, and testing efficiency.
  • Work toward Postman proficiency for basic API testing within the first 3 months.
  • Begin contributing to test automation scripts within 6 months (with mentorship).

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 02 years of QA or software testing experience (internships count).
  • Testing fundamentals understands test case design, bug lifecycle, severity/priority classification.
  • Attention to detail methodical, thorough, documents findings clearly.
  • Basic web technology understanding HTML, CSS, JavaScript concepts; how web applications work.
  • Bug reporting ability can write clear, reproducible bug reports with appropriate details.
  • ADO or bug tracking tool exposure basic familiarity with any test management or bug tracking platform.
  • AI tool comfort willing to use AI tools for test case generation and learning.
  • Eagerness to learn proactive, curious, takes feedback constructively, self-motivated.
  • Good English communication can write clear bug reports and participate in team discussions.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Computer Science, IT, or related degree.
  • Any Postman or API testing exposure.
  • Basic SQL knowledge.
  • Mobile device testing experience (iOS or Android).
  • ISTQB Foundation certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months

Work Schedule: Dayshift (9AM-6PM)

Work Setup: Hybrid w/ 2x RTO during training
