We are seeking a Junior Electrical Design Engineer (Junior/Intermediate) to support the design and drafting of low-voltage switchboards and related electrical documentation. Working under the guidance of a senior engineer, you will prepare accurate drawings and develop your technical skills in switchboard design and layouts.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare single-line diagrams (SLDs), basic schematics, and general arrangement (GA) drawings for LV switchboards and panels under supervision.
- Develop and update wiring diagrams, terminal layouts, and cable schedules based on markups and design inputs.
- Implement design changes and redlines provided by senior engineers and project managers.
- Ensure drawings are clear, accurate, and compliant with company standards and client requirements.
- Organise and maintain CAD blocks, drawing registers, and file structures.
- Assist in preparing bill of materials (BOMs) and equipment lists for projects.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of drawing standards and templates.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar).
- 23 years experience in electrical design or drafting, preferably involving switchboards, control panels, or building services.
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD (or equivalent) producing electrical drawings.
- Basic understanding of LV electrical distribution and protection devices.
- Exposure to relevant electrical standards (IEC, AS/NZS or local equivalents) is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in 2D CAD drafting for electrical drawings (AutoCAD or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering sketches, markups, and SLDs.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and Word for schedules and documentation.
- Willingness and ability to learn new tools and standards quickly.
Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing neat, accurate drawings.
- Willingness to learn from senior engineers and accept feedback constructively.
- Good English communication skills (written and verbal).
- Reliable, organised, and able to manage multiple tasks in a remote environment.
