Job Summary
The Inventory Specialist will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and ensuring accuracy of inventory records across the organization. This role sits under the Finance Department and plays a critical part in cost control, inventory valuation, and operational efficiency. The position will closely collaborate with Supply Chain and Logistics to ensure proper inventory movement, reconciliation, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records across warehouses and channels
- Perform regular inventory reconciliations (physical vs system) and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure proper inventory valuation aligned with accounting standards (FIFO, weighted average, etc.)
- Analyze inventory movements including purchases, transfers, and usage
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Logistics on stock movements, deliveries, and adjustments
- Support month-end closing activities related to inventory (costing, adjustments, reporting)
- Identify slow-moving, aging, and obsolete inventory and recommend actions
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and audit requirements
- Prepare inventory reports and provide insights to management
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field
- At least 24 years of experience in inventory, accounting, or finance-related roles
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting and costing methods
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Business Central or similar)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reconciliation, reporting)
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred Skills
- Experience in FMCG, food industry, or distribution business
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory flow
- Background in audit or internal controls is an advantage
- Ability to handle large datasets and identify discrepancies quickly
