The International Logistics Manager oversees inbound international shipments from purchase order booking through final warehouse receiving. This role manages ocean freight bookings, import compliance, shipment tracking, and coordination with carriers, freight forwarders, truckers, and warehouses. The position requires strong experience in ocean freight operations, ISF filing, and end to end shipment management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full inbound logistics process from purchase order release to warehouse receiving
- Book shipments directly with ocean carriers such as MSC and COSCO
- Prepare and file Importer Security Filing (ISF) within required timelines
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to ensure timely movement of goods
- Track shipment milestones and provide regular status updates to internal teams
- Issue delivery orders to trucking providers and monitor port to warehouse transportation
- Coordinate with warehouses to confirm receiving schedules and resolve delivery issues
- Perform inventory reconciliation by matching received goods against purchase orders and shipping documents
- Audit ocean freight invoices and validate billing accuracy
- Support internal audit processes by ensuring documentation and shipment records remain complete and accurate
- Provide operational oversight and guidance to logistics and billing staff
- Identify process issues and implement improvements to reduce errors and delays
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience working for a freight forwarder or in international inbound logistics
- Hands on experience booking ocean freight directly with carriers
- Strong knowledge of ISF filing requirements and correction procedures
- Solid understanding of import documentation, bills of lading, delivery orders, and customs processes
- Experience managing end to end shipment lifecycles across multiple international vendors
- Strong attention to detail with a track record of maintaining accurate shipping and inventory records
- Experience auditing freight invoices and resolving discrepancies
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory logistics role
- Familiarity with warehouse receiving processes and inventory reconciliation
- Experience working with multiple ocean carriers and maintaining carrier contacts
