Insurance Manager (Full-Time, Remote)
1.1 Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced Insurance Manager to oversee our organization's insurance compliance, drive policy strategy, and manage captive insurance structures. In this full-time, remote role (approximately 180200 hours per month), you will ensure that all insurance activities meet regulatory requirements and support the company's risk management objectives. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in captive insurance and can leverage this experience (especially in U.S. insurance markets) to optimize our insurance programs and protect the organization's assets.
1.2 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.2.1 Compliance Oversight: Ensure the company's insurance programs (including captive insurance entities) comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Serve as the primary liaison with regulators and auditors for insurance matters.
1.2.2 Policy Strategy Development: Develop and implement an effective insurance policy strategy to address the organization's risk exposure. Regularly evaluate existing insurance policies and recommend improvements or new policies to better protect the company and reduce costs.
1.2.3 Captive Insurance Management: Manage all aspects of the company's captive insurance structures. This includes establishing and administering captive insurance programs, monitoring their performance and solvency, and coordinating reinsurance or fronting arrangements as needed.
1.2.4 Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Finance, Legal, Operations) and external partners (brokers, insurers, and reinsurers) to integrate insurance solutions into business processes. Guide contract reviews, claims handling, and risk assessments to ensure insurance considerations are appropriately addressed.
1.2.5 Risk Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor industry trends and legislative changes in the insurance sector (particularly in the captive insurance domain). Advise senior leadership on emerging risks, changes in regulations, or opportunities to improve coverage. Prepare and present regular reports on insurance program performance, compliance status, and captive insurance outcomes.
1.3 Requirements and Qualifications:
1.3.1 Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field. (A master's degree or professional certifications such as CPCU, ARM, or CIC in insurance/risk management is a plus.)
1.3.2 Insurance Management Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in insurance management or risk management, with substantial experience in captive insurance operations (this is a required qualification). You should be able to demonstrate hands-on experience setting up or managing captive insurance companies or programs.
1.3.3 Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance practices. Familiarity with U.S.-based insurance markets and regulatory requirements is highly desirable (experience working with U.S. insurance laws or state insurance commissioners is a strong plus).
1.3.4 Strategic & Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and strategic-thinking abilities. Capable of assessing complex risk scenarios and designing insurance solutions or policy strategies to effectively mitigate those risks. Ability to interpret insurance data, financial statements of captives, and actuarial reports to make informed decisions.
1.3.5 Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership and communication skills. Proven ability to lead insurance-related projects or teams (remote management experience is advantageous) and to communicate complex insurance concepts clearly to non-experts. Must be comfortable collaborating in a remote work environment, using virtual communication tools to coordinate with colleagues and stakeholders.
1.3.6 Attention to Detail: High attention to detail concerning reviewing insurance contracts, policies, and regulatory documents. A track record of ensuring complete compliance and accurate documentation in all insurance activities.
