The Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Inc. (FILSCAP) is the Philippines leading accredited collective management organization that administers, among others, the public performance and communication to the public rights, over the musical compositions of music creators and rightsholders. With affiliates in multiple continents, and membership in the international umbrella organization, CISAC, FILSCAP ensures licensing, royalty collection and rights protection of musical compositions across borders.
Our Legal Department plays a vital role in safeguarding intellectual property rights in the dynamic world of music. FILSCAP has been instrumental in successfully litigating landmark music copyright cases in the interest of the members and affiliates it represents. We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our teamsomeone proactive, driven, and passionate about litigation and dispute resolution.

Key Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Senior Legal Counsel and General Counsel, the Legal Counsel will:
Handle civil, criminal, administrative, and other legal cases on behalf of the Society.
Develop and implement internal protocols for managing legal accounts and pending cases.
Manage relationships and coordinate with external legal counsel.
Provide regular updates and actionable recommendations regarding referred and on-going cases and legal matters.
Conduct administrative investigations and address labor-related concerns.
Perform corporate housekeeping tasks, including attending and documenting board and committee meetings, as needed.
Draft, review, and negotiate licenses and other agreements, as needed.
Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Provide legal advice to members, the Board of Trustees, and management.
Liaise with internal departments, local and international affiliates or rights management entities, and regulatory bodies.
Advocate for legal and policy reforms favorable to rightsholders through lobbying, position papers, and stakeholder engagement.
Carry out legal duties in accordance with the Society's policies and relevant regulations.
Take on other related tasks as assigned by superiors.
Qualifications:
Licensed to practice law in the Philippines.
At least 3 years of relevant post-bar experience, with strong emphasis on litigation and dispute resolution.
Experience managing a large portfolio of cases; prior exposure to copyright infringement cases is a plus but not required.
Solid understanding of remedial law and related legal procedures.
Experience in labor and employment law is advantageous.
Graduate of a reputable law school with an excellent academic background.
Must be a member in good standing of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP).
Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Demonstrated interest in the music industry, copyright law, and/or collective rights management.
