Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or Business Administration.
- Minimum of 5 years in import or supply chain management, with leadership experience preferred.
- Certifications in international trade (e.g., CIFF, Certified Customs Specialist) preferred.
- Vendor Relations and Supplier Management
- Negotiate terms with international suppliers and shipping companies.
- Maintain positive working relationships with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
- Import Process Management
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and international trade laws.
- Oversee the timely processing of import documentation (e.g., bills of lading, invoices, certificates).
- Coordinate with customs and other regulatory authorities to ensure smooth customs clearance.
- Cost and Budget Management
- Monitor and control import costs, including shipping fees, duties, and taxes.
- Create budgets for import activities and ensure adherence to cost control measures.
- Team Management and Development
- Lead and mentor the import team, including Import Officers.
- Coordinate training for team members to stay updated on compliance and regulatory changes.
- Coordination with Internal Departments
- Work closely with procurement, sales, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment on product deliveries and import schedules.
- Liaise with legal and compliance teams for regulatory approvals and risk management.
- Problem Resolution and Process Improvement
- Address and resolve issues related to delayed shipments, customs disputes, and document discrepancies.
- Continuously optimize the import process for greater efficiency.
- Reporting and Metrics
- Prepare detailed reports on import activities, costs, and KPIs for senior management.
- Track and analyze performance metrics such as lead times, compliance rates, and cost per shipment.
