Job Description

The Hydrology staff is responsible for planning, designing, and analyzing water-related infrastructure and environmental projects. The position will provide technical expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, and water resources planning to support the development of hydro, solar, and wind energy projects. This role involves conducting hydrological assessments, flood risk analyses, and water management planning to ensure project safety, compliance, and sustainability throughout the project lifecycle

Hydrology & Flood Risk Assessment

Conduct catchment hydrology studies to determine rainfall-runoff relationships and assess water availability for hydroelectric projects.

Perform flood hazard and inundation modeling for solar and wind sites to determine appropriate safe elevation design, flood protection measures, and drainage plans.

Apply hydrologic/hydraulic modeling tools (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GeoHECRAS, or equivalent) to simulate river flows, reservoir operations, and extreme weather events.

Performs 1D or 2D hydraulic modelling to determine flood levels for every corresponding flood magnitude calculated for each component of a renewable energy project.

Water Resource Planning for Renewable Energy

Support hydropower feasibility studies, including flow duration curves, reservoir yield analysis, and environmental flow assessments.

Evaluate water-related risks for solar and wind farms, including flash flooding, storm surge, coastal flooding, and soil erosion.

Design sustainable water management and drainage systems to minimize site impact and maintain operational reliability.

Climate Environmental Impact Considerations

Integrate climate change projections into hydrological analyses to account for future variability in precipitation and extreme events.

Provide input for Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA/EIA) specific to water resources and hydrological impacts.

Recommend nature-based solutions and climate-resilient designs for renewable energy sites.

Site Development Support

Determine optimal site elevations, freeboard, and flood protection measures for PV arrays, wind turbines, and hydro facilities.

Support construction planning with water management strategies, erosion control measures, and sediment transport analysis.

Coordinate with geotechnical, civil, and environmental engineers to integrate hydrological design requirements into site layouts.

Data Management & Reporting

Analyze hydrometeorological datasets, including rainfall, river discharge, groundwater, and evaporation records.

Utilize GIS for catchment delineation, terrain analysis, and hydrological mapping.

Prepare high-quality technical reports, design documentation, and regulatory submissions for permitting and financing.

Other Related Tasks

Complies with company policies and procedures, safety rules and practices.

Conforms to the company's Integrated Management Systems, policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.

Reports any Integrated Management System events/incidents or potential events or other risks to the organization.

Performs any other related duties and responsibilities that the immediate superior may be assigned from time to time, consistent with the purpose of this role.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or Environmental Engineering
  • Licensed Civil Engineer
  • More than 2 years experienced in hydrology/water resources engineering
  • With experience in water-related risk assessments for renewable energy projects.
  • Preferably with experience related to renewable energy.
  • 1 vacant position to be based in Makati or Baguio City
