Job Description

We are looking for a motivated executive who loves finding solutions to challenges in achieving technical excellence for older tonnage. A hands on individual who has the management skill to motivate shore and sea based personnel would be ideal.

Qualifications:

  • Experience as head or in the high c-suite of a ship management company
  • Experience as chief engineer and as a high level technical head.
  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in technical management of ships with, ideally as head of the Ship management company for several years
  • Strong understanding of maritime regulations, vessel operations, and compliance requirements with problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) is an advantage.

Skills and Personal Qualities

  • The candidate should display strong leadership and decision-making skills with excellent financial management and business acumen.
  • Strong understanding of maritime regulations, vessel operations, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent financial management and business acumen.
  • Should have effective communication and interpersonal skills.

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Head is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the ship management operation, implementing plans and programs to achieve the organisation's purpose, vision and goals around profit, operational excellence, process excellence, people empowerment, governance, risk and compliance and the protection of the environment.

Strategic Leadership

  • Provide overall management and leadership to achieve the company's vision, goals, and operational excellence.
  • Develop long-term strategies and annual operating plans with measurable KPIs.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across ship management services.

Financial Stewardship

  • Ensure achievement of revenue streams, growth goals, and budgets.
  • Oversee financial performance, billing, collections, and compliance with loan covenants and tax regulations.
  • Optimize resource and cost management plans.

Operations Excellence

  • Deliver exceptional ship management services with timely execution and accurate documentation.
  • Implement quality management systems and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Resolve operational risks and crises while maintaining vessel performance against SLAs and KPIs.

People & Culture

  • Lead high-performing teams, attract and retain talent, and provide mentorship.
  • Implement training and development programs for both land-based and sea-based employees.
  • Build succession plans and ensure business continuity.

Innovation & Risk Management

  • Drive digitalization and process improvements.
  • Develop and manage risk mitigation systems across all vessels.
  • Promote environmental protection and sustainability initiatives.

External Relations & Governance

  • Cultivate strong relationships with government agencies, NGOs, and industry associations.
  • Represent the company in public forums and strengthen its image internally and externally.
  • Ensure compliance with governance, fiscal management, and statutory requirements.
