Role Overview
The Head of Operations will lead and oversee the Manila Operations team, ensuring efficient day-to-day execution while aligning operational performance with the organization's strategic objectives. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage daily operational activities while driving continuous improvement, productivity, and service excellence.
The ideal candidate comes from the maritime, shipping, logistics, or shared services environment, with strong leadership capability, operational discipline, and expertise in process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma. This role will play a key part in strengthening operational performance, optimizing workflows, and supporting long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Oversee daily operations of the Manila Operations team to ensure consistent delivery of services and operational targets.
Lead operational planning, resource management, and workflow execution across assigned functions.
Monitor operational metrics and drive actions to improve efficiency, productivity, and service quality.
Ensure adherence to established operational standards, policies, and procedures.
Strategic Alignment and Execution
Translate business strategies into operational plans and actionable initiatives.
Ensure alignment between operational delivery and organizational goals.
Support leadership in driving operational readiness for growth and transformation initiatives.
Provide regular operational insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
Process Improvement and Performance Management
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Identify operational gaps, inefficiencies, and risks, and implement sustainable solutions.
Drive performance management through structured KPI tracking and reporting.
Promote a culture of operational excellence and accountability across the organization.
People Leadership and Stakeholder Management
Provide leadership and direction to operations managers, supervisors, and support teams.
Build and sustain a high-performing operations culture focused on accountability and results.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders to ensure smooth service delivery.
Communicate operational updates, performance insights, and key risks effectively.
Productivity and Financial Performance
Drive improvements in productivity, cost efficiency, and overall operational performance.
Oversee operational budgets and ensure effective utilization of resources.
Lead initiatives that improve operational profitability and cost control.
Monitor and improve performance metrics related to Productivity, Performance, and Line Efficiency (PLI).
Qualifications
Director-level operations leadership experience or higher.
Proven experience managing day-to-day operations within a complex operational environment.
Strong background in maritime, shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, ship supply, or shared services operations.
Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred (or strong Lean/Six Sigma experience).
Demonstrated experience driving operational excellence and process improvements.
Experience managing large teams, including multiple layers of leadership.
Strong knowledge of operational metrics, performance management, and productivity improvement.
Experience working with regional or global stakeholders is highly preferred.
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across levels.
