Job Description
The Head of Finance and Accounting is responsible for Financial Reporting and Accounting, Treasury and Liquidity Management, Financial Planning and Performance, Regulatory Compliance, and Corporate Transactions.
This role is a Head-level position, forms part of the leadership team, and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Finance and Accounting
- Lead and support the Finance and Accounting team.
- Ensure management accounts, annual financial statements, and other financial reports are accurate and completed on time.
- Review significant transactions and advise on the accounting treatment of new products and business arrangements.
- Oversee provisioning, tax reporting, billing, accounts receivable, and related accounting activities.
- Coordinate external audits and support the resolution of audit findings.
- Work with Operations on loan booking, reconciliations, and other finance-related processes.
- Maintain appropriate financial controls, accounting policies, and management reporting systems.
- Improve finance processes as the business and its partnerships grow.
Treasury and Financial Management
- Oversee treasury, liquidity, investments, funding, and asset and liability management.
- Monitor liquidity, funding costs, pricing, and balance-sheet performance.
- Manage relationships with banks, lenders, and other funding partners.
- Serve as Secretariat to the Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO).
- Prepare relevant financial reports for ALCO, senior management, and the Board.
- Help ensure compliance with applicable liquidity, capital, and regulatory requirements.
Planning and Business Support
- Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and financial performance monitoring.
- Provide clear financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions.
- Work with Product, Operations, Risk, and Business teams to assess new products and opportunities.
- Advise on pricing, financial viability, risks, and accounting considerations.
- Support initiatives involving foreign exchange, remittances, and other financial partnerships.
- Identify practical opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
Risk and Regulatory Support
- Participate in the Credit Committee and contribute financial insights to lending decisions.
- Maintain appropriate financial risk management processes and controls.
- Support compliance with BSP requirements, accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
- Coordinate with regulators, auditors, banks, and other external stakeholders when needed.
- Support regulatory examinations and the timely submission of required information.
Fundraising and Corporate Transactions
- Support the Chief Executive Officer with fundraising and investor relations activities.
- Prepare financial analyses, presentations, and responses to investor questions.
- Coordinate financial due diligence for investments, acquisitions, and other corporate opportunities.
- Work with internal teams and external advisers throughout relevant transactions.
Team Leadership and Governance
- Manage, coach, and develop the Finance and Accounting team, initially comprising two to four employees.
- Set clear responsibilities and support the team's professional development.
- Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
- Work closely with senior leadership and partner-facing teams on business priorities.
- Monitor key measures covering liquidity, financial reporting, audits, tax, and regulatory compliance.
Initial Priorities
The successful candidate's initial areas of focus will include:
- Strengthening treasury, liquidity, investment management, and ALCO processes.
- Improving financial reporting and management information.
- Reviewing the bank's provisioning approach.
- Enhancing financial controls and accounting processes.
- Supporting foreign exchange and remittance initiatives.
Other Responsibilities
- Recommend practical improvements to finance, accounting, treasury, and related operational processes.
- Support other business priorities and strategic initiatives as needed.
- Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
