Role Description
The role provides technical leadership to Pioneer's group insurance in the areas of underwriting, pricing and preparation of master policy contracts. A key deliverable is the generation of competitive quotations, both new business and renewals without sacrificing underwriting profitability.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning. Keep abreast of relevant business, market, technology, industry development/trends and government regulations and effectively uses information in aid to achieve division goals.
- Underwriting. Assesses risks exposures/insurability of prospect group accounts and recommends appropriate underwriting strategies, loading, rating for accurate pricing. Reviews schedule of plan benefits designed by junior underwriters, customized to the needs of prospect group clients. Recommends to the Group Underwriting and Technical Services Head improvements in the pricing and group underwriting guidelines, necessary in the generation of competitive new business quotes and renewal negotiation of expiring accounts.
- New Business. Implements measures to ensure that client's submitted documents comply with the KYS requirements of AMLA. Reviews final proposal of a newly closed group accounts prepared by subordinates to reflect the agreed schedule of benefits, price, terms and conditions.
- Customer Service. Addresses inquiries and concerns of internal and external clients.
Qualifications
- Candidate must be a graduate of bachelor's degree course, preferably of any Math, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Business course.
- Qualifications or certifications related to Underwriting/Insurance is mandatory, an MBA is a plus
- With ten (10) years experience in group insurance operations, preferably in pricing.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Collaborative, Agile and Resourceful.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- With excellent attention to detail and results oriented.
