About The Role

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, and forward-thinking Head of General Trade to lead our nationwide GT operations. This role requires strong strategic capability, modern leadership style, and the ability to drive transformation in a fast-evolving, digitally enabled sales environment. The ideal candidate brings fresh perspectives, excels in fast-paced settings, and is highly adaptable to new tools, trends, and ways of working.

You will spearhead GT strategy, execution, customer engagement, and overall commercial performance, ensuring that the organization remains competitive and future-ready.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Commercial Leadership

  • Develop and execute GT channel strategies aligned with business objectives and market evolution.
  • Drive revenue growth, market expansion, and GT channel transformation.
  • Identify emerging market trends and recommend forward-thinking initiatives.

Operational Management

  • Lead and develop regional managers and field sales teams across the country.
  • Foster a culture of agility, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Optimize route-to-market approaches and distributor performance.

Distributor & Customer Engagement

  • Build strong partnerships with distributors, wholesalers, and key GT accounts.
  • Drive effective distributor onboarding, evaluation, and compliance.
  • Lead negotiation of trade terms, pricing strategies, and promotional plans.

Execution & Market Activation

  • Oversee implementation of trade programs, merchandising execution, and in-store visibility.
  • Ensure competitive pricing, strong presence, and superior product availability.
  • Manage trade investments to maximize ROI.

Data, Forecasting & Reporting

  • Direct GT forecasting, budgeting, and performance monitoring.
  • Use data insights to guide decisions, team actions, and commercial recommendations.
  • Provide regular business updates to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Management, or related field (MBA an advantage).
  • 810 years of progressive sales experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role within General Trade or FMCG.
  • Strong understanding of GT channels, distributor management, and nationwide sales operations.
  • Digitally fluent with demonstrated ability to adopt and leverage modern sales technologies.
  • Agile, innovative, and open to new ways of working, with a leadership style aligned to todays dynamic business landscape.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
