JOB SUMMARY:
The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and performing various accounting tasks. They ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations (including the Bureau of Internal Revenue - BIR), and regulatory requirements set by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). The General Accountant also assists in budgeting, forecasting and supports internal and external audits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review BSP reports and ensure reconciliation with accounting records.
- Record all financial transactions in the MYOB accounting system, ensuring timely and accurate data entry.
- File accounting documents with the document controller, maintaining an organized and easily retrievable record-keeping system.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Conduct regular account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies or errors.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing financial insights and analysis to support decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including timely preparation and submission of tax returns.
- Support the internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure on-time filing and payment of government mandatories such as SSS (Social Security System),
- Pag-IBIG (Home Development Mutual Fund), and PhilHealth (Philippine Health Insurance Corporation).
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting systems and software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial information and provide support for financial analysis.
- Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Stay updated on accounting standards and regulations, implementing necessary changes as required.
- Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
- Coordinate with external vendors, banks, and other parties regarding financial matters.
QUALIFICATIONS: (MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING)
- Holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy
- Preferably a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Has at least 5 years of meaningful experience in any field of accounting
- Familiarity with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficient in using accounting software, such as MYOB, QuickBooks, or other similar platforms.
- Knowledgeable in tax regulations and compliance, including BIR requirements and tax filing procedures.
- Skilled in financial analysis, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights for decision-making.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, ensuring accuracy and integrity in financial transactions and reporting.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
