Job Description

Job Overview

The Controller will serve as the financial integrity lead for client entities, ensuring accurate, reliable, and compliant financial reporting with a strong focus on balance sheet excellence. This role is responsible for overseeing month-end close processes, leading complex account reconciliations and cleanups, and providing technical guidance to accounting teams. As a senior accounting authority, the Controller will supervise bookkeepers and senior accountants, establish strong financial controls, and act as a trusted advisor to U.S.-based clients and leadership.

Core Responsibilities

  • Own and review monthly balance sheetswith a zero-tolerance mindset for inaccuracies
  • Identify long-term financial issues(misclassified liabilities, retained earnings issues, debt errors, AR/AP risk, equity problems) before they become client problems
  • Perform and review month-end closein QuickBooks Online across multiple entities
  • Lead balance-sheet cleanups, historical corrections, and QBO diagnostic reviews
  • Supervise, train, and QA bookkeepers and senior accountants
  • Establish and enforce standardized close procedures, checklists, and controls
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex accounting questions (accruals, loans, equity, intercompany, payroll clearing, etc.)
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with U.S. leadership and clients

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with controller or senior accounting responsibility
  • Advanced QuickBooks Online expertise
  • Demonstrated mastery of balance sheets
  • Proven experience managing and reviewing work of bookkeepers
  • Strong understanding of:

>Accrual accounting

>Multi-entity structures

>Loan accounting & reconciliations

>Payroll & clearing accounts

>Retained earnings & prior-period adjustments

  • Excellent written and spoken English(must be client-facing caliber)
  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable operating autonomously

Nice to Have (Strong Differentiators)

  • Prior experience supporting U.S.-based clients
  • Experience in outsourced accounting / CAS / advisory firms
  • Exposure to multi-location or franchise businesses
  • CPA or equivalent credential (Philippines or international)
