The Financial Controller is responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial data, reporting, and compliance activities. This role focuses heavily on complex revenue recognition and subscription-based financial reporting. The Controller will design and maintain internal financial controls, lead the accounting function, and ensure full compliance with applicable accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS).

3. Responsibilities
The day-to-day activities the role is responsible for doing to achieve the accountabilities:
- Financial Leadership:
- Oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance processes.
- Ensure the integrity of financial data and adherence to corporate policies.
- Revenue Recognition & Compliance:
- Own and maintain strict compliance with revenue recognition standards, including complex accounting for contracts and deferred revenue.
- Develop, implement, and enforce internal accounting policies tailored to the recurring revenue model.
- Reporting & Analysis:
- Oversee the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Ensure the accuracy of KPIs and financial metrics (e.g., MRR, ARR) used by executive management, ensuring alignment with the general ledger.
- Strategic Finance Partnership:
- Partner with FP&A in budgeting, forecasting, and linking operational metrics to financial outcomes.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Operational Excellence:
- Manage and optimize the full accounting cycle, including month-end and year-end close.
- Supervise accounting staff (A/P, A/R, Payroll), fostering development and accountability.
- Internal Controls & Treasury:
- Design and enforce a robust system of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
- Monitor and manage working capital, liquidity, and treasury operations.

Timeliness and accuracy of financial compliance: Ensuring all deadlines for compliance related activities e.g. tax returns, are achievedTimeliness and accuracy of financial reporting deadlines: Ensure all internal and external deadlines are consistently met.Zero material audit findings: Achieve zero material weaknesses or significant findings in internal or external audits.Expense Control Variance: Achieve a target variance for controllable expenses versus the board-approved budget.Forecast Accuracy for operational budgets: Variance of actual departmental expenses to the operational budget/forecast is within a +/- 5% tolerance.
Requirements
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Deep understanding of GAAP/IFRS and subscription-based revenue recognition.
- Strong proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience managing accounting teams and implementing internal controls.
It would be nice if you have [Optional]:
- Experience in a technology or cloud consulting environment.
- Familiarity with SaaS financial metrics (MRR, ARR, churn, LTV).
- Experience in process improvement, automation, or ERP implementation.
- MBA or additional finance certifications.
Benefits
Salary:PH 80,000 PHP / month and SA $2.2k / month
Work Schedule: 8 hour shift (Fulltime) working Philippines hours (3am start in South Africa)
