Financial Accountant
Location: Ortigas (Onsite)
Work Schedule: 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Manila Time)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to support the integrity of our financial reporting and business operations. This role plays a critical part in month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory accounting, financial analysis, and process improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will bring strong financial reporting expertise, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to partner with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Finance. Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Manage month-end close activities, including preparation and posting of general ledger journal entries.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure all reconciling items are resolved within reporting timelines.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and tax authorities.
- Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances, providing clear commentary and recommendations.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to understand movements in creditor and debtor accounts.
- Partner with Procurement, Logistics, and Inventory teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation and reporting.
- Support budget and forecast reviews with business stakeholders and cost center owners.
- Assist with year-end financial reporting, statutory requirements, and external audit processes.
- Maintain strong internal controls, identify financial risks, and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
Inventory Accounting & Business Partnering
- Monitor inventory discrepancies across stores and warehouses.
- Provide analysis and insights on inventory movements and associated costs.
- Partner with Merchandise, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to improve inventory accuracy and financial reporting.
Audit & Compliance
- Ensure financial records accurately reflect business transactions and comply with accounting standards.
- Support audit requirements by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls and improve financial governance.
Business Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze financial data and provide meaningful insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Partner with department leaders to review monthly results and identify opportunities for cost savings and business improvements.
- Support business transformation initiatives by providing financial expertise and assessing the impact of process changes.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA, CA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Financial Accounting, Financial Reporting, Audit, or a related field
- Experience within a Retail, FMCG, or Multi-Site environment is highly desirable
- Experience with ERP systems such as Infor/MS is an advantage
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across multiple business functions
