Job Title: Financial Accountant
Location: Ortigas, Pasig, PH
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid | 3x Onsite, 2x WFH) | 6 AM to 3 PM PH Time
Job Summary
The Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the organisation's financial records. This role ensures timely and compliant financial reporting, supports statutory and regulatory obligations, and contributes to effective financial management through analysis, reconciliations, and continuous improvement of accounting processes. The Financial Accountant works closely with internal stakeholders to provide insights that support decision-making and ensure strong financial governance.
Job Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Take full ownership of the month-end reporting process, including the preparation of journals, accruals, and prepayments.
- Prepare Special Purpose and General Purpose Financial Statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Ensure timely compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations, including GST, PAYG, FBT, Payroll Tax, and ABS reporting.
- Perform monthly consolidation of results and provide insightful commentary on variances in the balance sheet and income statement against budget and forecast.
Internal Controls & Governance
- Establish, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and robust internal control frameworks to ensure data integrity and financial accuracy.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and variance analyses to support the integrity of financial information.
Asset & Tax Management
- Maintain and manage the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring accurate recording and depreciation of assets.
- Assist in the preparation of tax documentation and ensure compliance with relevant taxation obligations.
External Liaison & Audit Support
- Collaborate with external accountants, tax advisers, and auditors to support tax planning and financial audits.
- Play a key role in preparing for and supporting annual and half-year financial audits.
Process Improvement
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and enhance the effectiveness of financial operations.
Work Health and Safety
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and the health and safety of others in the workplace, in accordance with WHS legislation and company policies
- Follow all safe work procedures, instructions, and protocols
- Immediately report any incidents, hazards, near misses, or safety concerns to your leader or the relevant HSET representative
- Participate in WHS training, briefings, and consultations as required
- Support a culture of safety by promoting awareness and compliance with Work Health and Safety Management System
- Use equipment, tools, and resources safely and as intended, and report any faulty or unsafe items through the appropriate channels
Qualifications
- CA or CPA qualified, preferably with training from a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in a financial accounting role.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with financial statement preparation.
- Broad commercial skills, and the ability to contribute to strategic decision-making through quality financial reporting and analysis is desirable
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident in managing external auditor and adviser relationships.
- Proactive, curious, and commercially minded with a drive to continuously improve processes.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems; experience with Technology One is highly regarded.
