Job Description
Finance Manager
Impact-Driven Startup
About the Role
An impact-driven startup is looking for a hands-on finance leader to strengthen its financial foundations and support its readiness for Series A fundraising.
You will own the integrity of the books, financial reporting, and order-to-cash process, while bridging finance, operations, and leadership. This role requires someone who brings structure and accountability, with the ability to turn financial and operational data into clear business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own financial reporting and the monthly close. Ensure the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement are accurate, reconciled, supported, and delivered on time.
- Maintain a reliable balance sheet. Resolve accounting discrepancies and maintain clear supporting schedules for cash, receivables, inventory, payables, debt, and other material balances.
- Support fundraising and investor readiness. Prepare financial models, forecasts, records, and supporting schedules for investor discussions and financial due diligence.
- Own order-to-cash end-to-end. Establish controls and accountability across order validation, billing, revenue recognition, collections, and cash application.
- Manage cash and working capital. Maintain cash flow forecasts, monitor runway, and proactively address overdue receivables, inventory exposure, and cash pressures.
- Partner with operations and leadership. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting, providing clear insights into revenue, margins, costs, and business performance.
- Build finance discipline. Establish and enforce practical SOPs, approval controls, reporting timelines, and responsibilities across teams. Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisers.
What We're Looking For
- Strong financial controllership and accounting experience, supported by financial planning and analysis and business partnering capability.
- Proven ability to own all three financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and a disciplined monthly close.
- Experience strengthening finance processes and controls, particularly across order-to-cash, receivables, inventory, and cash management.
- Strong financial modelling skills and the ability to translate operational data into actionable management insights.
- Confident stakeholder management, with the ability to challenge inconsistencies and drive accountability across teams.
- A detail-oriented, proactive approach and the willingness to work directly through issues.
- Startup or growth-stage experience preferred; fundraising, investor reporting, or financial due diligence exposure is a strong advantage.
- CPA qualification preferred.
What Success Looks Like
Clean, well-supported books; a reliable balance sheet; timely management reporting; stronger cash visibility and collections; and financial records ready for investor scrutiny.
