Role Overview
The Finance Business Partner is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and enabling data-driven decision-making across AVI. Through collaboration with stakeholders, ownership of finance systems and month end processes, leadership of planning and audit activities, this role helps ensure the organization's financial health and long-term success.
This role is best suited to an experienced finance professional who enjoys taking ownership, working independently and partnering with stakeholders to drive outcomes. We are seeking someone who can confidently identify issues, recommend solutions and results driven.

Position Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting and current CPA (or equivalent) status & 5 or more years relevant experience in a similar role
- Sound understanding of, and experience working with, accounting concepts in a project-based setting
- Demonstrated ability to influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels through the provision of insightful analysis, sound commercial judgement and evidence-based recommendations

- Understanding of confidentiality principles, and experience with the confidential management of sensitive information
- Experience working with software systems and package, including understanding of financial software (NetSuite experience desirable), database software and the Microsoft Office suite
- Very good oral, written and visual communication, writing and editing skills
- A high level of attention to detail and organisational ability
- Ability to operate autonomously, exercise professional judgement and manage competing priorities with minimal direction in a complex environment
- Proven experience identifying and implementing process, reporting and system improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen controls and improve decision making
- Sound experience in ownership and accountability in the month end process including balance sheet reconciliations, month end journals, accrual and project accounting
- Project accounting and donor funded financial management experience is desirable
- Sound knowledge of, and commitment to AVI's Mission, Values and Corporate Objectives
