Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager is the first line manager that is responsible for overseeing the overall performance, daily activities and successful operations of his/her team within the Finance Department and individually performs based on trust and confidence given by the MontPac management while maintaining most importantly a high level of confidentiality. He/she is responsible for execution of Department's obligations, responsibilities and initiatives to ensure the optimal capacity and capability of the staff under his/her management. Furthermore, the primary responsibility is ensuring that the Finance Department is working smoothly, efficiently and effectively.
Required Skills:
Effective people management skills that include coaching and mentoring skills within the past 3 to 5 years of leadership experience.
Fundamental understanding of accounting functions, principles and proper recording of financial and/or regulatory transactions.
Has vast knowledge on both US and Philippine Taxation.
Has knowledge on Netsuite and QBO as well as solid exposure and experience in Implementation projects.
Knowledgeable in Payroll for both the US and the Philippines.
Having a Business Intelligence background is an advantage.
Ability to analyze and explain significant variances, fluctuations and monitor deliverables of the Finance Department as well as to assigned accounts and their respective client profitability.
Ability to identify gaps and issues, as well as development of initiatives and solutions for recommendation.
Proficient in written and verbal English, with effective business presentation skills
Highly independent and has high regards on confidentiality and sensitive information.
Effective in multi-tasking and time management.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Can work with grace under pressure. Able to practice authority when needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists and guides senior accounting officers, accounting officers and associates in regular accounting functions such as bank reconciliation, accounts receivable and accounts payable monitoring and bookkeeping functions.
- Oversees period accounting, report maintenance, accounts reconciliation, adjustments and is responsible for the analysis, interpretation and preparation of financial and accounting reports to bring more value to the MontPac management.
- Prepares and ensures timely completion of payroll, including related tax reporting requirements.
- Significantly involves oneself on audits, monthly/year end reporting and other non-routine reports and dues needed primarily by the Executives, Leadership Team and Finance Department.
- Prepares and/or reviews Individual and Consolidated Financials and other reports needed by the Executives.
- Accomplishes team objectives set by the Executive Management and oversees and manages overall service delivery of assigned accounts and ensures accurate and timely delivery of services to Executives in accordance with the schedules and deliverables and with strict compliance with MontPac's operational control guidelines.
- Manages individual and team workload and leads and motivates team members to achieve targets and deadlines, performs periodic reviews of performance of staff under supervision and provide necessary recommendations to management
- Manages communication of the accounting team to maintain good relationships and ensure that all queries and concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner for the Executive, Leadership Team, Operations and the company as a whole.
- Ensures all deliverables are properly and timely completed by the Finance Department
- Oversees and leads the successful migration of accounting records and transition of accounting responsibilities and implementation of new projects.
- Evaluates and analyzes business process risks and controls given a certain industry, and interacts with the Executives, Leadership Team, Operations and Admin Teams in the resolution of issues and discussion and implementation of process improvements.
- Ensures the consistent implementation of best practices in the service delivery and the transfer of knowledge and practices among team members to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Monitors transfer of information as well as transition of processes to new team members.
- Prepares and/or reviews team's time budgets and manages individual members workloads and assignments in accordance with standards of MontPac.
- Prepares and presents reports relating to the team's performance, metrics, goals, standards, etc.
- Participates in the evaluation, formulation and implementation of new processes to improve team productivity and efficiency and overall client service experience.
- Identifies gaps, develops recommendations and solutions that would help the management in making sound decisions for the overall well-being of the organization.
- Identifies and communicates issues and exceptions with the management team and other team members, recommend appropriate action plans to address the issues, monitor the successful implementation of those plans and prevent the recurrence of errors, if any

- Assists in developing the hiring criteria for the Finance Department.

- Guides subordinates in adhering to company policies, procedures and best practices.
- Makes staff termination decisions with the approval of the Director of Operations and the Executive Management

Performance Management
- Mentors, coaches and trains staff under management, including overseeing new employee onboarding and provide career development planning and opportunities
- Counsel and discipline employees, as needed, in accordance with MontPac's policy and employee manual
- Train, guide and hone the supervision and leadership skills of lead associates and accounting officers (including SAO)
- Reviews performance of staff under management periodically and makes the necessary recommendation in terms of salary increases and promotion.
