Job Summary
We are looking for a Farms Buyer to manage the sourcing and purchasing of farm produce to support retail operations. This role is responsible for identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating prices, and ensuring consistent supply of quality produce that meets business requirements.
The ideal candidate has an agriculture-related background and hands-on experience purchasing farm produce for retail or distribution.
Key Responsibilities
Source and procure fresh farm produce directly from farms and suppliers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers and agricultural suppliers.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and supply agreements to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
Monitor product quality, availability, and delivery schedules to meet retail demand.
Coordinate with internal teams to align purchasing plans with inventory and sales requirements.
Conduct regular market checks to stay updated on produce pricing and seasonal availability.
Ensure all purchased produce meets quality and safety standards.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier contracts, and transactions.
Address supply issues, shortages, or quality concerns in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field is preferred.
At least 2 years of experience in purchasing farm produce, preferably for retail or distribution.
Strong understanding of agricultural products, seasonal cycles, and supply sources.
Experience working directly with farms or agricultural suppliers is an advantage.
Good negotiation and supplier management skills.
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Willing to travel to farms and supplier locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting retail operations involving fresh produce.
Familiarity with farm supply chains and logistics coordination.
Background in handling perishable goods procurement.
