JOB OVERVIEW

The Risk Officer supports the Lead Risk Officer in the execution, monitoring, and documentation of the Company's Enterprise, Operational, and Financial Risk Management activities. The role focuses on day-to-day risk operations, issue and action tracking, and risk reporting support, while strategic oversight, regulatory engagement, and final accountability remain with the Lead Risk Officer.

The role provides exposure to enterprise risk practices within an insurance company, including regulatory expectations, governance forums, and cross-functional risk coordination.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Operational Risk Support:

  • Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Risk Management Framework, including:
  • Management Control Assessment
  • Issue and Risk Event Management
  • Control documentation and evidence tracking
  • Assist in identifying, documenting, and assessing key risks across business units, including process, people, systems, and third-party risks.
  • Track remediation action plans, milestones, and supporting evidence for management-identified, audit, or regulatory issues.
  • Coordinate with Risk Champions and control owners to ensure timely risk updates, attestations, and documentation.

Financial & Actuarial Risk Support:

  • Support the monitoring and documentation of financial and actuarial risk items, including:
  • Product pricing assumptions, valuation methodologies, and reserve adequacy considerations
  • Actuarial model risk documentation and dependency mapping
  • Experience studies, lapse, persistency, and claims trend risk analysis
  • Sensitivity analysis and stress testing outputs prepared by Actuarial and Finance
  • Assist in documenting:
  • Key actuarial assumptions and management overlays
  • Changes in actuarial methodology and impact assessments
  • Dependencies between actuarial outputs and financial reporting
  • Consolidate actuarial and financial risk inputs for enterprise risk reporting, governance forums, and regulatory submissions.

  • Enterprise Risk & Regulatory Support

Support enterprise risk activities by assisting in:

  • Maintenance of risk registers and risk inventories
  • Risk taxonomy and risk categorization alignment
  • Documentation supporting risk appetite, tolerances, and KRIs

Assist in preparing materials and documentation to support:

  • Risk Management Committee (RMC) discussions
  • Board or senior management reporting
  • Regulatory examinations or information requests (e.g., Insurance Commission), under the guidance of the Lead Risk Officer

Help ensure risk documentation and evidence are audit-ready and consistent with internal governance standards.

Coordinate with Actuarial on risk appetite metrics relating to capital adequacy, lapse risk, reserve sufficiency, and product profitability.

(Note: This role supports regulatory and enterprise risk activities but does not independently represent the Company to regulators.)

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Assist in preparing periodic risk reports for Management and the RMC.
  • Support KRI monitoring, threshold tracking, and breach escalation documentation.
  • Maintain risk registers, trackers, dashboards, and action logs to ensure completeness and accuracy of data.
  • Support follow-ups on risk issues discussed in governance forums.

Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Coordinate with Finance, Technology, Operations, Compliance, and other business units on risk-related matters.
  • Follow up on agreed actions, deadlines, and deliverables to support timely risk closure.
  • Support alignment with Group Risk frameworks, templates, and reporting requirements.

General Risk & Governance Support:

  • Assist in control testing, internal and external audits, and ad-hoc risk reviews.
  • Support risk awareness activities, training sessions, and governance initiatives led by the Risk function.
  • Perform other risk-related tasks as assigned to support the overall risk management program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Statistics, Accounting, Risk Management, Business, Economics, or a related field.

At least 5 years of experience in operational risk, enterprise risk, financial risk, audit, compliance, or internal controls, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.

Working knowledge of:

  • Management Control Assessment
  • Issue and Risk Event Management
  • Risk registers, KRIs, and management reporting
  • Actuarial valuation concepts (reserving, pricing assumptions, experience studies)
  • Capital adequacy and solvency monitoring
  • Product risk and insurance liability risk

Exposure to regulatory, audit, or supervisory environments (e.g., Insurance Commission, internal audit) is an advantage.

Experience coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders such as Finance, Technology, Operations, and Compliance.

Strong documentation, organization, and follow-through skills, with attention to detail.
