Overview
As an Online ESL Faculty Contractor at Approach International Student Center, you will support our mission by delivering high-quality, engaging online instruction to international students. This role is ideal for an experienced ESL professional with excellent English proficiency who is comfortable working independently, teaching in a virtual environment, and growing alongside a dynamic, student-centered institution.
Essential Functions
Plan and Deliver Online Lessons
Design and deliver engaging, student-centered online lessons aligned with the ESL curriculum, using interactive teaching strategies and digital tools to support diverse learning styles.
Assess Student Progress
Evaluate student performance through quizzes, assignments, and formative assessments. Provide timely, constructive feedback to support language development and student goals.
Foster a Positive Online Learning Environment
Create an inclusive, supportive, and motivating virtual classroom that encourages participation and respects cultural diversity.
Maintain Accurate Records
Track attendance, participation, and student progress accurately. Submit required academic reports in a timely manner.
Collaborate with the Academic Team
Collaborate with academic leadership and fellow instructors as needed to ensure instructional alignment and quality. Participate in virtual meetings and training sessions when requested.
Support Student Success
Provide academic guidance and encouragement to help students remain engaged and confident in their learning journey.
Uphold School Policies and Standards
Comply with all instructional guidelines, academic standards, confidentiality requirements, and professional expectations established by Approach.
Foster Continuous Professional Growth
Remain open to feedback and participate in professional development opportunities related to teaching quality and online instruction.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required
Master's degree in TESOL strongly preferred
Minimum of one year of ESL teaching experience (online teaching experience strongly preferred)
Excellent English proficiency (near-native or native-level fluency preferred)
Strong virtual classroom management and communication skills
Proactivity, flexibility, adaptability, and caring professionalism
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Analytical thinking, interpersonal skills, and a positive growth mindset
Understanding of the cultural and communicative needs of international students
Technology proficiency, including Zoom and Google Workspace
