Levanta Renewables is a renewable energy developer and independent power producer in Southeast Asia. We develop, build, and deliver renewable energy solutions that work for each country in support of its transition to renewable energy and do so in a sustainable manner while helping local communities. Levanta is building out a large renewable platform with a target to reach 1GW+ operating capacity over the next couple of years, delivering power to a range of offtakers, including government-owned utilities, private distribution companies and commercial and industrial customers, across Southeast Asia, with the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia being the key target markets.
About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead technical strategy and execution across our wind, solar, and battery storage portfolio. The role ensures strong engineering governance, accelerates project delivery, and provides high-quality technical support across development, construction, and operations. The successful candidate will shape the company's technology roadmap, improve cross-functional alignment, and enhance performance across the full asset lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Governance
- Lead an efficient, structured engineering review and approval process.
- Manage technical risks and uncertainties across the portfolio.
- Maintain productive relationships with OEMs, suppliers, and technical advisors.
- Define engineering standards, design criteria, and technical requirements for all projects.
- Embed lessons learned and best practices across all engineering workflows.
- Optimize hybrid system designs to deliver competitive LCOE.
Project Development Technical Support and EPC Tendering
- Oversee energy yield assessments, resource modelling, and site suitability analyses.
- Provide clear, decision-ready inputs on land selection, project layouts, grid requirements, and CAPEX estimates.
- Lead technical due diligence for greenfield and acquisition opportunities.
- Provide clear recommendations on project feasibility and risks.
- Prepare tender-ready technical specifications for EPC, BOP/BOS, and equipment procurement.
- Provide EPC/O&M contract scoping and lead contractor evaluation.
Construction Engineering Review, Support Planning and Performance Test
- Review and approve engineering deliverables during project execution.
- Strengthen construction planning through improved processes, manuals, and team capability.
- Support construction teams with timely engineering clarifications, issue resolution, and contractor coordination.
Operations Performance & Optimization
- Provide technical guidance to resolve operational issues and improve plant availability and reliability.
- Lead SCADA- and data-driven performance diagnostics. Promote analytics-driven decision-making across the asset lifecycle.
- Support O&M on upgrades, lifecycle improvements, and technical procurement.
- Conduct operational due diligence and performance reviews for operating assets.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Build and lead a high-performing engineering team.
- Strengthen collaboration with Development, Construction, O&M, and Investment teams.
- Enhance knowledge management to support consistent and scalable engineering practices.
An ideal candidate should possess
Industry Experience
- 15+ years in the renewable energy sector; Southeast Asia experience preferred.
- Strong network among developers, consultants, and OEMs.
Technical Expertise
- Proven experience supporting development, construction, operations, and acquisitions.
- Skilled in preparing technical specifications, tender documents, and CAPEX estimates.
- Familiar with EPC/O&M contract scoping and contractor evaluation.
- Strong grounding in civil and electrical design for renewable energy projects.
- Familiarity with the commonly used software and models such as WAsP, WindPRO, Openwind, PVSyst, NREL SAM, GIS platforms, Python/VBA, and SCADA analytics.
