About the Opportunity:
A leading global healthcare and medical technology organisation is seeking an experienced End-to-End Data Lead to support a major transformation programme within its Orthopaedics business in Japan.
This role sits within the organisation's Global Data and Programme Delivery function and will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of data activities across the full programme lifecycle. The position requires close collaboration with global and regional stakeholders to ensure high-quality, business-ready data is delivered to support system deployment, operational readiness, and long-term sustainability.
The role is based in Tokyo and will involve working closely with both local business teams and global programme leadership in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Role Overview:
The End-to-End Data Lead will be responsible for overseeing all data-related activities across the programme lifecycle, including business alignment, data migration planning and execution, data quality validation, go-live readiness, hypercare support, and transition into steady-state operations.
This individual will act as the primary data representative for the Japan deployment, ensuring that data strategies, governance standards, and migration processes are successfully implemented and aligned with global enterprise standards.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the primary contact for all data-related activities across business value streams.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into data specifications and delivery plans.
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions to define data definitions, validation criteria, and readiness expectations.
- Ensure alignment between local business requirements and global data governance standards.
End-to-End Data Delivery Leadership:
- Lead and manage the end-to-end data delivery plan for the Japan programme.
- Oversee all phases of data execution including data design, mapping, extraction, transformation, loading, validation, and reconciliation.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams across multiple value streams to ensure data readiness.
- Monitor and manage Data Quality Tests (DQT) and Data Quality Metrics (DQM) to ensure acceptance criteria are met.
- Provide regular updates to programme leadership and PMO, including reporting on risks, issues, and progress.
- Facilitate alignment across technical and business workstreams.
Data Migration & Cutover:
- Lead the planning and execution of data migration cycles, including mock migrations, dress rehearsals, and production cutover.
- Manage data-related defects, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate resolution activities.
- Ensure full data traceability from source systems to target environments.
- Support programme cutover planning and ensure data readiness for deployment.
Data Quality, Validation & Sign-Off:
- Oversee the execution of data quality validation processes prior to go-live.
- Work with business teams to define data acceptance criteria and secure formal sign-off.
- Provide transparent and accurate reporting on data readiness and quality metrics.
Go-Live & Hypercare Support
- Serve as the data lead during go-live and hypercare phases.
- Manage and resolve data-related issues in collaboration with technical and business teams.
- Monitor post-deployment data quality KPIs and support stabilization activities.
Transition to Operational Support:
- Lead the transition of data assets, processes, and controls to operational support teams.
- Ensure documentation, governance structures, and monitoring frameworks are fully embedded.
- Support the establishment of sustainable data stewardship and governance practices following deployment.
Required Experience:
- Extensive experience working as a Data Lead, Data Manager, or similar role on large transformation or ERP programmes.
- Strong expertise in data migration, data governance, and data quality management frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate data delivery across multiple business value streams.
- Experience managing complex stakeholder environments and senior leadership engagement.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and issue-resolution capabilities.
- Experience working in global or multi-regional project environments.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with SAP or large enterprise platforms.
- Background in regulated industries such as healthcare, life sciences, or medical technology.
- Familiarity with Japanese business environments or regional programme deployments.
