The business prioritizes lifecycle marketing as a key revenue driver and values structured execution, documentation, and data-backed decision-making. Their team operates collaboratively across SEO, CRO, Web Development, Paid Media, and Merchandising to ensure campaigns are strategically aligned and technically sound.

About the Role

The Email and SMS Marketing Specialist (Klaviyo) will own the day-to-day execution, optimization, and reporting of lifecycle marketing initiatives across email and SMS channels. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, improving list health, maintaining deliverability, and ensuring measurement accuracy.

The position requires both technical precision and analytical thinking, with a strong emphasis on QA, structured testing, and cross-functional coordination. While supporting secondary websites as needed, the primary focus will remain on the flagship DTC site.

Responsibilities

Email and SMS Campaign Execution, QA, and Merchandising Alignment - 30%

  • Build and deploy a weekly email and SMS campaign calendar aligned to merchandising priorities, launches, and inventory reality.
  • Execute promotional campaigns for discount seasons, including pre-launch planning, launch-day execution, and post-mortem analysis.
  • Perform rigorous QA before sends, including links, UTMs, rendering across devices, personalization tokens, and compliance language.
  • Maintain consistent naming and tagging conventions for campaigns to enable clean reporting and analysis.
  • Run controlled tests on campaign variables (subject lines, send time, offer framing, content modules, and SMS messaging) and document learnings.

Lifecycle Flows Ownership and Optimization in Klaviyo - 25%

  • Own strategy, configuration, and continuous optimization for core lifecycle flows (Welcome, Browse Abandon, Cart and Checkout Abandon, Post-Purchase, Winback, Review Requests, Replenishment, and Cross-sell).
  • Improve conversion and retention by segmenting by intent, product category, purchase history, and engagement, and by tailoring message sequences accordingly.
  • Partner with CRO and UX and Web Dev to ensure onsite capture points, flow triggers, and attribution are accurate and reliable.
  • Monitor deliverability and engagement signals and take corrective actions (list hygiene, suppression, cadence controls, content risk reviews).
  • Maintain flow documentation, change logs, and a prioritized backlog of improvements ranked by impact and effort.

Database Growth, Consent, Deliverability, and List Health - 15%

  • Grow the email and SMS subscriber base using compliant, conversion-oriented tactics such as onsite forms, popups, gated content, and tailored signup offers.
  • Maintain subscriber consent integrity and compliance standards for SMS and email, including preference management and quiet hours where applicable.
  • Own list health practices including suppression strategy, sunset policies, engagement segmentation, and proactive cleaning to protect deliverability.
  • Coordinate with Web Dev to implement, QA, and monitor list growth placements and tracking accuracy on the website.
  • Reporting, Insights, and Performance Recommendations - 15%Deliver weekly and monthly reporting on email and SMS performance with clear drivers, learnings, and decision-ready recommendations for what to change next.
  • Track performance by message type, segment, and key lifecycle journeys to identify the highest-impact opportunities.
  • Maintain a structured test log and learning library to scale winners and retire underperforming approaches.
  • Translate performance insights into a prioritized roadmap for campaigns, flows, segmentation, and list growth improvements.

Cross-Functional Execution and Measurement Integrity - 10%

  • Coordinate UTMs, landing paths, and onsite readiness with SEO, CRO and UX, Web Dev, and Paid Media to ensure promotions and launches are executed cleanly.
  • Partner with SEO on content and keyword themes so email and SMS campaigns reinforce organic priorities and improve onsite engagement.
  • Work with Paid Media to align messaging, offers, and audience strategy so lifecycle campaigns support full-funnel efficiency.
  • Validate tracking after deployments and campaign launches to prevent attribution breaks and reporting noise.

Secondary Sites Support and Documentation - 5%

  • Provide minor support for the company's secondary and future websites, as needed, without reducing focus on the primary website's priorities.
  • Maintain SOPs, naming conventions, and documentation for flows, campaigns, QA checklists, and reporting cadence.
  • Operating Rhythm and Deliverables
  • Weekly campaign calendar, send plan, and QA checklist completion.
  • Weekly performance update with wins, risks, and next actions.
  • Monthly business-ready reporting with insights, test results, and prioritized roadmap.
  • Centralized change log covering flow updates, segmentation changes, and key tests.

Competencies and Qualifications

Must-haves

  • Hands-on Klaviyo experience (email and SMS) in an e-commerce environment
  • Proven experience executing and optimizing lifecycle campaigns
  • Segmentation & behavioral targeting expertise
  • Deliverability & list hygiene expertise, including database cleanup (malicious/invalid entries, bots)
  • QA discipline across campaigns, flows, and tracking (links, UTMs, rendering, personalization tokens)
  • Cross-functional coordination with Web Dev, SEO, CRO/UX, Paid Media, and Merchandising
  • Shopify ecosystem familiarity
  • 3+ years of experience in e-commerce lifecycle marketing

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Photoshop or Illustrator for basic creative edits
  • Experience managing multiple e-commerce domains
  • Deep GA4 proficiency
  • Looker Studio or advanced dashboarding experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field
  • Formal marketing certifications
