Electrical Project Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead and manage electrical engineering projects from initiation to close-out. This role will involve coordinating teams, ensuring compliance with project schedules, budgets, and technical standards, while managing both the financial and technical elements of each project. You will be the primary point of contact for clients and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage electrical engineering projects from feasibility to design and construction administration

• Develop and maintain project scopes, schedules, budgets, and work plans

• Track project progress, identify risks, and implement strategies to mitigate them

• Serve as the primary client liaison for assigned projects

• Facilitate meetings with owners, architects, contractors, and utility providers

• Manage project expectations, communicate status updates, and address issues professionally

• Ensure designs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local AHJ requirements, and utility standards (e.g., HECO)

• Review technical deliverables for completeness, coordination, and constructability

• Prepare and manage project budgets, labor forecasts, and fee tracking

• Monitor project profitability and implement corrective actions as needed

• Oversee construction-phase services, including RFIs, submittals, site visits, and punch lists

• Mentor junior staff in project coordination and professional development

• Participate in industry conferences and workshops to build networks and identify new opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in electrical engineering project management, specifically in areas like power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, generators, telecommunications, and commercial/industrial projects

• Professional licensure as an Electrical Engineer (PE) is required

• Extensive experience in electrical design combined with strong leadership skills

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement

• Experience with AutoCAD for design and documentation, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, scheduling, budgeting, and project-tracking tools

• Must have stable employment history

• Familiarity with NEC, Hawaii permitting processes, and utility standards (e.g., HECO)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SCADA systems for infrastructure projects

• Familiarity with sustainable design practices and emerging technologies in electrical systems
