Job Summary

The Director of NPI collaborates closely with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to drive best-in-class new product introduction (NPI) velocity. This role is accountable for delivering high-quality, cost-effective products with minimal working capital, while ensuring responsiveness to customer demandfrom early prototypes (ELS) through high-volume ramp-up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the New Product Introduction (NPI) global team to transition products from Engineering to volume manufacturing ensuring Design for excellence (DfX) goals are attained regarding New Product Development (NPD)
  • materials planning, materials program management, as well as Manufacturing Engineering and Test resources.
  • Initiates and manages volume operations programs in conjunction with the Global Operations organization to improve material costs, labor hours, first time yields, cycle times, and quality and inventory levels.
  • Drive improvement in assembly jigs, fixtures, and targeting automation to reduce variability of product builds
  • Initiates and manages transfer of NPI products to factory operations. Manages early unit build capability and facilities on a global basis.
  • Manages Engineering development NPI infrastructure to enable fast prototype development and early customer JDP/alpha shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science, or related field
  • Advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D., or MBA) preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the electronics/semiconductor equipment or related high-tech industry
  • At least 10 years in leadership roles operations
  • Proven experience applying lean principles to improve operational performance
  • Proven leadership experience managing global teams, with strong skills in team building, mentoring, and development
  • Strategic and analytical mindset, with expertise in planning, problem-solving, and program management
  • Effective communicator and collaborator, skilled in influencing across functions and presenting to diverse stakeholders
