Job Summary
The Design Supervisor Retail Projects is responsible for managing, coordinating, and reviewing design deliverables for shopping mall developments. In support of the Design Manager, the role ensures that architectural and interior design outputs align with approved mall concepts, company standards, regulatory requirements, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Design Management & Coordination
- Assist the Design Manager in all design-related requirements for shopping mall projects.
- Coordinate with architectural, engineering, faade, lighting, signage, and specialty consultants.
- Review and comment on design submissions, drawings, specifications, and material selections.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of design documents across all phases: Concept, Schematic, Design Development, and Construction Documentation.
Design Quality & Compliance
- Act as design gatekeeper, ensuring approved mall design intent is accurately translated into drawings and documentation.
- Secure design approvals and ensure compliance with local building codes, life safety regulations, and mall design standards.
- Maintain high design quality, constructability, and interdisciplinary coordination.
Project Execution & Monitoring
- Monitor and ensure timely submission of deliverables by consultants and design teams.
- Liaise with specialist consultants and suppliers to obtain technical data, drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct on-site and off-site meetings to clarify technical design elements and resolve issues.
- Identify potential design conflicts or risks early and initiate corrective action plans.
Team Leadership & Communication
- Supervise and mentor junior architects and interior designers assigned to mall projects.
- Conduct and assist in design coordination meetings to identify design clashes and recommend solutions.
- Provide timely feedback to the Design Manager and team members to ensure clear communication and alignment.
Additional Duties
- Perform other duties and functions as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Interior Design or equivalent.
- Licensed Architect or Licensed Interior Designer.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in mall, commercial, or mixed-use development projects.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, life safety requirements, and mall design standards.
- Ability to read, interpret, and coordinate architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to design excellence.
