About The Department Function
Mining IQ delivers exclusive data, analysis and expert insights through research reports and a growing suite of data tools covering key industry themes, including projects, investment risk, ESG, leadership and investor sentiment.
Your Role
Your role as Data Researcher is key in supporting our content expansion plans and executing our intelligence strategy, which is built out of our existing research offering.
As a Data Researcher, you will develop databases and data resources for internal and external use, working in collaboration with the Editor of Mining IQ and Editor of Content Data and Research. You will be expected to source, maintain, and develop a range of data products across our mining content products, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data collection and maintenance. You will support the Editor of Data Content and the Editor of Mining IQ in developing and maintaining datasets for internal and external stakeholders.
You will work with the Mining IQ team, liaising with various departments. You'll develop a deep understanding of the mining industry and have the ability to maintain datasets to enrich our products. Collaborating with internal teams to ensure effective use of databases and communicating developments. You will proactively look for opportunities to enhance our ability to deliver industry-leading storytelling.
You will assist in promoting content through various channels, including social media, and participate in content distribution strategies to increase readership and engagement. Through your role and the insights developed, you will aid the development and execution of reader-engagement and subscriber-audience-building plans and initiatives.
This role sits within the wider Mining IQ function within the content team.
Your key duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Data collection: gathering intelligence from various industry sources, and data entry
- Data analysis: identifying trends and outliers in the datasets
- Database management: maintaining data quality and meeting data delivery deadlines
- Supporting Mining IQ's strategy and growth by sourcing, analysing, and organising high-quality data.
- Using your and the wider team's research and data-sourcing skills to inform and construct new and existing products and content offerings.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to share your insights and expertise to enhance content and data across our publications, driving data and research led content.
- Social media and content promotion: assisting in promoting content through various channels, including social media, and participating in content distribution strategies to increase readership and engagement.
You will report into the Editor for Content Data and Research and work very closely with the Editor of Mining IQ.
ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL HAVE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:
- Significant experience in data handling, sourcing and dataset-building.
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative research.
- Excellent in-depth knowledge of Excel and other data processing programmes.
- Experience with ranking and data used for benchmarking.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Knowledge of the natural resources sector would be beneficial.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst ensuring standards and deadlines are met.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively with crossfunctional teams
