Job Summary
We're looking for a Data Modeler who can turn raw financial data into structures that behave like finely tuned machineryclean, scalable, and ready for analytics. You'll design and optimize data models across cloud and on-prem ecosystems, ensuring that asset management teams can make sharper, faster decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models tailored for asset management workflows (portfolio, trades, valuations, risk, operations).
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL components supporting data pipelines.
- Implement data solutions on Microsoft Azure (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Synapse, Data Factory, Delta Lake).
- Create Python scripts and utilities for data transformation, validation, and automation.
- Partner with portfolio managers, quants, analysts, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable data structures.
- Ensure data accuracy, lineage, and governance according to industry and compliance standards.
- Support performance tuning, data quality checks, and metadata management.
- Collaborate in Agile/Scrum teams and contribute to architectural improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience as a Data Modeler, Data Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure data services (Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks a plus).
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with data warehousing concepts (Star/Snowflake schemas, normalization, dimensional modeling).
- Solid Python experience for data manipulation and automation.
- Background in Asset Management or Investment Management, with familiarity across assets, portfolios, NAV, trades, market data, or risk data.
- Understanding of data governance, lineage, and security frameworks.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of ETL/ELT frameworks and MDM concepts.
- Exposure to cloud cost optimization and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Power BI or other BI tools.
