About The Role
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building and integrating data from various sources to support big data management and the development of IT services and products. She/He also help to ensure that the infrastructure required to connect systems and enable data analysis is properly maintained.
How You'll Contribute
- Build and maintain SBC's data pipeline systems to encompass the journey and processes that data undergoes within SBC. Review the solution requirements and architecture to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems and technology
- Gather, store and complete batch processing or real-time processing of SBC data to ensure it is quarriable and analyzable. She/He ensures that the data processed and provided are clean, reliable, and prepped for whatever use cases may present themselves
- Process the extraction, transformation and loading of big datasets to create big data
- warehouses that can be used for reporting or analysis
- Continuously optimize the performance of company's big data ecosystem., including writing complex queries to make sure it is easily accessible and works smoothly
- Be a consummate researcher, trainer and advocate of novel technologies and tools to ensure the latest trends and developments are considered as part of SBC's IT infrastructure
- Support a positive and collaborative digital delivery culture with a philosophy of continuous improvement, development, innovation and excellence all while remaining in compliance with the bank's policies and procedures and upholding the highest standards of professional conduct
What We're Looking For
- Typically, a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data engineering or a related field is required for this role.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related field is typically required, while a Master's degree or higher is preferred
- Experience with data modeling, ETL design, and data warehousing
- Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, and Apache Flink
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
- Experience with cloud data platforms and services, such as Amazon Redshift
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
- Experience with machine learning and data analysis techniques
- Experience with version control systems such as Git
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
