Job Title: Mid-Level Data Engineer

As part of company's rapidly evolving and expanding businesses, Group Procurement operates in an increasingly complex environment, characterised by rising transaction volumes, supplier complexity, and growing regulatory expectations. We are seeking a skilled data Engineer to join our technology team and play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data platforms and pipelines that support procurement operations, analytics, and AIenabled use cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and serve procurement and market data from multiple internal and external sources.
- Develop and manage data integration solutions across transactional systems, thirdparty platforms, and cloudbased services.
- Ensure high data quality, reliability, and performance through effective data modelling, validation, monitoring, and optimisation.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Implement and maintain data storage solutions (e.g. data lakes, warehouses) that support analytics, reporting, and AI/ML use cases.
- Contribute to the definition and enforcement of data engineering standards, patterns, and best practices.
- Support data governance, security, and compliance requirements, including access controls, lineage, and auditability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Stay current with emerging data engineering technologies and contribute ideas to improve platforms and introduce innovation.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in data engineering, building and operating production grade data pipelines.
- Experience working with distributed framework and data processing technologies such as Hadoop, S3, Spark
- Strong programming experience in Python.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross functional teams to design and architect data solutions
- Experience working on cloud environment - AWS or equivalent
- Experience querying with Big Data tools like Hive, Iceberg and Starburst
- Experience in design and implementing ETL data pipelines using Spark and Airflow
- Extensive experience working with SQL across a variety of sources along with ability to write complex SQL queries.
- Experience in working in an agile environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 24 years professional experience in a data engineering or closely related role.
