Position Summary
The Data Transformation Technician is a key member of the Enterprise Applications Team,
responsible for building, maintaining, and optimising data pipelines and transformation
processes across multiple sources including on-premises, cloud-based, and ad-hoc systems.
This role ensures the delivery of accurate, enriched datasets that enable actionable insights and
informed business decisions. Working closely with the Data Transformation Lead and Specialist,
the Technician will focus on technical execution, automation, and data quality while contributing
to enterprise data initiatives.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with the Data Transformation Lead and Specialist to deliver high-quality data
solutions.
- Engage with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure accurate
implementation.
- Contribute to team planning sessions and provide input on technical feasibility.
- Communicate project status, application performance metrics, and other relevant updates
to leadership and stakeholders.
- Utilise and promote the effective use of collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Jira,
Confluence) to facilitate clear communication, enhance project transparency, and drive
successful collaboration across teams.
Data Pipeline Development & Management
- Build, configure, and maintain data pipelines that integrate data from on-premises, cloud,
and third-party sources.
- Implement automation for ETL/ELT processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual
intervention.
- Optimise pipeline performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure reliability and scalability.
Data Transformation & Enrichment
- Execute data cleansing, transformation, and enrichment processes to produce high-quality
datasets.
- Apply standardisation techniques and best practices for data modelling and structure
optimisation.
- Develop reusable scripts and templates to accelerate data preparation and reduce
duplication.
Data Governance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all datasets comply with organizational data governance standards, security
protocols, and privacy regulations.
- Monitor data quality and performance, implementing controls to detect and resolve issues
proactively.
- Maintain thorough documentation of data workflows, pipelines, and transformation
processes.
Technology and Tools
Use advanced tools such as Azure Data Factory, Domo, SQL Server, and scripting
languages (Python, SQL, R) to manage and optimise data workflows.
Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.
Strategic Contributions
Contribute to the enterprise data strategy by identifying opportunities for innovation and
improved data usage.
Support the development of dashboards, reports, and advanced analytics solutions by
providing enriched datasets.
Act as a key resource in data integration efforts for enterprise application projects and
business initiatives.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Support Enterprise Data initiatives by ensuring reliable and well-structured data flow.
- Assist in preparing enriched data sets for dash boards reports and analytics projects.
- Play an active role in integration efforts for enterprise application and business projects
Skills, Competencies, Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelorʼs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent
work experience).
- 5+ years of experience managing and supporting enterprise or broadcast-specific
applications.
- Ability to analyse complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Proven experience in incident management and establishing on-call rosters.
- Strong knowledge of broadcast technologies and associated software applications.
- Basic understanding of cloud-based application solutions and integrations is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical
concepts into non-technical terms.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with various departments.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
