Job Description

Job Title: Credit Analyst

Overview: The Credit Analyst evaluates the creditworthiness of individuals or businesses seeking credit or loans. This role involves analyzing financial data, assessing risk, and providing recommendations to support sound lending decisions and minimize potential losses.

Responsibilities:

Credit Assessment & Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough financial statement analysis, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to evaluate the financial health and stability of applicants.
  • Analyze credit reports, industry data, and other relevant information to assess credit history, repayment capacity, and potential risks.
  • Develop financial models and projections to evaluate the applicant's ability to meet their financial obligations.
  • Assign credit ratings and recommend credit limits in accordance with established policies and risk appetite.

Risk Evaluation & Mitigation:

  • Identify and assess key credit risks associated with applicants and transactions.
  • Evaluate collateral and guarantees to determine their adequacy in mitigating potential losses.
  • Stay informed about economic, industry, and regulatory changes that may impact credit risk.
  • Recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies and credit terms.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare comprehensive credit analysis reports summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized credit files and documentation.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of credit policies and procedures.
  • Generate periodic reports on credit quality and portfolio performance.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with loan officers, relationship managers, and other stakeholders regarding credit decisions and risk assessments.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support business development and portfolio management efforts.
  • Stay updated on best practices and industry trends in credit analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial statement analysis and credit risk assessment techniques.
  • Familiarity with credit reporting agencies and financial databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
