Job Description

Cost Estimator Interior Fit-Outs (Australian Experience Required)

Our client, a well-established Australian interiors and fit-out firm, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cost Estimator to support their growing pipeline of commercial interior projects. This role will focus primarily on estimating and tendering for interior fit-outs across sectors such as office, retail, hospitality, and workplace environments.

This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with an Australian-based project and construction team, contributing to accurate tender submissions and helping deliver profitable, high-quality projects.

Key Responsibilities

Review architectural drawings, construction plans, and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates for interior fit-out projects

Perform quantity take-offs and measure plans using industry-standard tools and software

Prepare detailed cost sheets, BOQs, and pricing breakdowns covering labour, materials, subcontractors, and equipment

Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive and up-to-date pricing

Assist in preparing tender submissions and supporting documentation

Identify project risks, pricing gaps, and provide value engineering recommendations

Review scope changes, variations, and update cost estimates as required

Maintain and update pricing databases and cost benchmarks relevant to the Australian market

Collaborate with project managers, designers, and procurement teams to ensure commercial accuracy

Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience working as a Cost Estimator within the Australian commercial interiors or fit-out industry

Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings

Demonstrated experience completing quantity take-offs and preparing detailed cost estimates

Strong understanding of Australian construction methods, materials, and compliance requirements

Experience using estimating and measurement software

Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with complex cost sheets

High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commercial awareness

Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience

Experience estimating commercial office, retail, hospitality, or workplace interior fit-out projects

Experience working with Australian subcontractors and supplier networks

Exposure to value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives

Experience supporting full tender lifecycle processes
