Job Summary
The Project Cost Accountant is responsible for reconciling, validating, and finalizing all project-related costs to ensure timely and accurate project cost close-out. The role includes regular reporting of reconciliation status, issues, and completed work to the Team Lead or Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile actual project costs in SAP against approved budgets, awarded contracts, approved Change orders and forecasts.
- Ensure all project costs are correctly classified, posted to the appropriate Project WBS and profit center.
- Monitor and reconcile contractor advances, deposits, and retention, coordinate with other departments for proper offsets.
- Account for all Purchase Orders (POs) and assist in the closure of POs and open Purchase Requisitions (PRs).
- Continuously update the project's cost monitoring, including awarded amounts and payments, to support project scorecards.
- Coordinate with other departments to resolve cost variances, unposted items, and discrepancies.
- Prepare adjusting and reclassification entries in SAP as needed.
- Prepare project close-out and reconciliation schedules.
- Generate SAP reports and supporting documents for audit and management review.
- Regularly report reconciliation progress, issues, and completed tasks to the Team Lead or Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or equivalent certification is an advantage but not required.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in project or cost accounting preferably in real estate or
- construction.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP.
- Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables, reconciliations, and data analysis.
- Detail-oriented with strong coordination and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and meet tight deadlines.
