Job Description

At Optum, we're transforming health care by making high‑quality experiences more accessible, more compliant, and more human—powered by data, technology and intelligence. We're seeking a Content Program Management Lead (Associate Director) to own the strategy, operating model, and governance for enterprise content across thought leadership, digital, direct marketing, social, events, and executive engagement.

This role is ideal for a senior operator who thrives at the intersection of content, compliance, scale, and AI‑enabled workflows—and who can bring clarity, structure, and momentum to complex, cross‑functional environments.

What You'll Do

Own Enterprise Content Operations

  • Lead the end‑to‑end program strategy and operating model for Optum's content ecosystem, ensuring scalability, compliance, and measurable business impact.
  • Oversee delivery across content managers, creative studio, campaign teams, and legal/compliance partners.

Drive Operational Excellence

  • Establish and run planning rhythms including annual and quarterly roadmaps, editorial calendars, capacity planning, and prioritization frameworks.
  • Facilitate intake processes, stage‑gates, retrospectives, and continuous improvement ceremonies.
  • Define and enforce clear RACI models, SLAs, and cross‑team handoffs.

Governance, Standards & Compliance

  • Create and steward enterprise content standards including taxonomy, metadata, versioning, accessibility, brand guidelines, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Manage approvals, audit trails, and documentation to support regulatory and corporate governance requirements.

Modernize Content Operations with AI

  • Advance AI‑assisted content workflows for briefing, outlining, variation, and quality checks.
  • Apply Responsible AI guardrails with strong human‑in‑the‑loop review and compliance oversight.

People, Budget & Vendors

  • Manage program budgets, vendor relationships, and resourcing models.
  • Coach and develop a small PMO or program team, fostering a culture of accountability and operational maturity.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in content operations, program management, or marketing operations at enterprise scale.
  • Proven success building governance models (RACI, SLAs, stage‑gates) and leading cross‑functional delivery across creative, marketing, and product teams.
  • Strong fluency in content infrastructure including DAM, CMS, taxonomy, metadata, and brand/compliance standards.
  • Practical experience applying AI in content operations with attention to Responsible AI, risk, and quality.
  • Executive‑level communication skills with comfort presenting KPI dashboards and leading business reviews.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Preferred

  • Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industries.
  • Advanced degree or certifications (PMP, Agile/Lean, DAM, marketing operations).
  • A systems‑thinking mindset with a passion for operational excellence and intelligent automation.

Why Optum

At Optum, you'll work on programs that matter—helping ensure the information people rely on is accurate, compliant, accessible, and impactful at scale. You'll partner with smart, committed teams and have the opportunity to shape how content operations evolve across a global health organization.

Together, we're improving how health care works—one system at a time.
