Role Summary
The Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the Company's compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, permits, licenses, and reporting requirements mandated by government agencies and regulatory bodies, including but not limited to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Philippine Economic
Zone Authority (PEZA), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Local
Government Units (LGUs), and other relevant authorities.
The role involves monitoring regulatory changes, preparing and filing compliance reports, coordinating with government agencies, maintaining compliance documentation, and supporting internal stakeholders to ensure continued adherence to statutory and regulatory obligations.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure timely compliance with all regulatory, statutory, and reportorial requirements of the Company.
- Monitor changes in laws, regulations, circulars, and guidelines issued by BIR, PEZA, SEC, BOC, LGUs, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
- Assess the impact of regulatory changes on Company operations and recommend necessary actions.
- BIR Compliance
- Prepare, review, and coordinate the timely filing of tax returns, information returns, and other taxrelated reports.
- Monitor compliance with tax regulations and documentary requirements.
- Coordinate with external consultants and tax authorities during audits, investigations, and
assessments.
- • Maintain proper records and documentation supporting tax filings and compliance activities.
PEZA Compliance
- Prepare and submit PEZA reportorial requirements and applications.
- Coordinate with PEZA officers regarding operational, fiscal, and regulatory concerns.
- Monitor compliance with PEZA registration conditions, incentives, and reporting obligations.
- Support PEZA audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- SEC Compliance
- Ensure timely filing of SEC reportorial requirements, including but not limited to General Information Sheets (GIS), Audited Financial Statements (AFS), and other required disclosures.
- Maintain corporate records and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with Corporate Secretary and external legal counsel on regulatory matters as
- necessary.
Other Government and Regulatory Requirements
- Coordinate the renewal and maintenance of business permits, licenses, registrations, and
- certifications.
- Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies regarding compliance matters.
- Prepare documentation and support requirements for inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.
- Maintain a comprehensive compliance calendar to track submission deadlines and regulatory
obligations.
Compliance Monitoring and Reporting
- Develop and maintain compliance trackers and databases.
- Prepare periodic compliance reports for management.
- Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required records and documentation.
Process Improvement
- Recommend and implement improvements to compliance processes and controls.
- Assist in developing and updating compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Provide guidance to departments on compliance-related matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, preferably CPA.
- At least 3 years of experience in regulatory compliance, taxation, corporate compliance, or related functions.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine regulatory requirements, particularly those related to BIR, PEZA, and SEC.
- Familiarity with corporate governance, taxation, and government reportorial requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
