Job Description

The duties & responsibilities associated with this position includes but not limited to:

Support the development of the company's commercial growth strategy

  • Monitor and assess the impact of market changes, government policies, incentives, and environmental regulations on the renewable energy market and the SNAP portfolio (Business Model Review)
  • Conduct market analyses in collaboration with relevant teams to identify growth opportunities, emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and competitor activity relevant to SNAP's commercial growth strategy
  • Conduct strategic research (Strategic Research and Solutions, SRS) to evaluate new market opportunities, segments, and technologies including their viability within the SNAP portfolio

Develop and propose early-stage commercial schemes/business cases or greenfield/brownfield/M&A projects to support the Commercial Strategy Head (DG0)

  • Design and ascertain viability of pricing methods such as feed-in-tariff, auctions, bilateral negotiations and merchant into a project's revenue component
  • Design of alternative or additional revenue streams where applicable
  • Recommend deal structure that provides best value for SNAP
  • Recommend commercial contract design (where applicable) that best represents and protects approved business cases.
  • Develop strategies to improve business cases or deals such as tax optimization, portfolio building and sequencing and equity participants providing services to the project, etc.
  • Provide topline revenue modelling and analysis for early stage projects

Review and vet the commercial business case of the company's projects in the pipeline

  • Works with the relevant project directors, BDP, MCO Portfolio Management team and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the projects being developed will sell power in the most profitable way.
  • Support the Commercial Strategy Head in reviewing and vetting (within SNAP) the commercial business case of projects, in accordance with the company's project approval process.

Perform lead and support functions for financial modeling and analysis

  • Creation of cash-flow based project financial models to support decision-making which includes scenario analyses based on a combination of the following drivers: revenue-related, macroeconomic, regulatory, grid-related constraints, project and operational costs, project financing instruments, taxation, etc.
  • Understand technology aspects of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems that are relevant to financing which includes estimation of annual energy production and variability amongst others
  • Modeling of risk-adjusted metrics for investment projects and strategies. Quantify investment risks, identify sources of risk and report a risk-return profile.

Provide commercial strategy support function for BDP and MCO during the handover from construction to 1 year of commercial operations:

  • Ensure approved business cases are transitioned successfully from contract signing (if with offtake) through one year of commercial operation via a structured process.
  • Support gate check reviews led by the relevant project director.
  • Lead and support the various project investment reviews and lookback processes of projects through one year of commercial operations

Coordinate with MCO, BDP and other related functions for reportorial duties

  • Board/Investment Committee presentation decks
  • Project decision gate appraisal reports
  • Project financing requirements
  • Other reports that may be needed

Other related tasks:

  • Assist in the implementation of Integrated Management Systems (Quality, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental, and Asset) and compliance to regulatory requirements
  • Work with the regulatory team to positively influence RE-related government regulations, ensuring these are advantageous to the company
  • Abide by and perform to the best of his abilities all functions, duties and responsibilities to be assigned by the Company in due course.
  • Comply with the orders and instructions given from time to time by the Company through its authorized representatives.
  • Perform any other administrative or non-administrative duties assigned by an authorized representative of the Company from time to time either through direct written order or by oral assignment
  • Participate in the different programs of the organization

Experience:

  • At least 4 years relevant experience in market analysis, financial services or business development

Education:

  • Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance or any related course with background in the power industry
