Position: Cobol Mainframe / Custom Software Engineer
Work Setup: Hybrid, 2 times a week
Shift Schedule: Mid Shift
Location: Taguig, Philippines
As a Custom Software Engineer, you will engage in the development of custom software solutions, focusing on designing, coding, and enhancing various components across systems or applications. Your typical day will involve collaborating with team members, utilizing modern frameworks, and applying agile practices to deliver scalable and high-performing solutions that meet specific business requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Expected to be an SME.
- Collaborate and manage the team to perform.
- Responsible for team decisions.
- Engage with multiple teams and contribute on key decisions.
- Provide solutions to problems for their immediate team and across multiple teams.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team to enhance overall performance.
- Analyze project requirements and translate them into technical specifications for implementation.
- Continuously evaluate and improve development processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Required Skill: Expert proficiency in Cobol Mainframe.
- Additional Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Job Control Language (JCL).
- Strong understanding of mainframe architecture and batch processing.
- Experience with debugging and performance tuning of Cobol applications.
- Familiarity with database management systems and data manipulation techniques.
- Ability to work with version control systems and collaborative development tools.
Must have and Good to have skills:
1. Proficient and Good hands-on experience in in COBOL, JCL.
2. Good hands-on experience in DB2, IMS and VSAM
3. Should be having knowledge on TSO/ISPF, Endevor, ChangeMan, FileAid
4. Good to have: CICS knowledge, CA7 scheduler and knowledge about ZOS API
